I just read Esperanza Rising, a lovely story about a 12 year old Mexican girl. Esperanza lived a very sheltered and exquisite life until suddenly everything changes because of one unfortunate event. Her life is turned upside down. This "riches to rags" coming of age story reflects "la esperanza" or hope and courage. My favorite quote is "Aguantate tantito y la fruta caera en tu mano" which means "Wait a little while and the fruit will fall into your hand." This story is a reminder that all is never lost
